Background of the Study
Political party decision-making processes are crucial for shaping the direction and priorities of political movements, and in many cases, these processes reflect the degree of inclusivity within political structures (Ibrahim & Akintoye, 2023). In Azare Local Government Area of Bauchi State, women’s participation in political party decision-making has been limited due to a variety of cultural, social, and institutional barriers (Aminu & Yusuf, 2024). Despite the increase in the number of women engaging in politics, their representation in key decision-making roles within political parties remains insufficient (Salihu & Olayemi, 2025). The involvement of women in these processes is essential not only for achieving gender equity but also for ensuring that the concerns of women are addressed in party platforms and political agendas. This study investigates the extent of female participation in political party decision-making in Azare, assessing the barriers women face and the potential benefits of increasing their involvement in these processes.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Women in Azare Local Government Area have faced numerous challenges in participating fully in political party decision-making processes, including discriminatory cultural practices and limited access to leadership roles within political parties (Danladi & Binta, 2023). Despite efforts to promote gender inclusivity in politics, women remain underrepresented in party leadership positions and decision-making bodies, which impedes the development of policies that reflect the interests of women (Usman & Bello, 2024). This study aims to investigate the factors contributing to the low participation of women in political party decision-making in Azare and to evaluate the potential solutions to these barriers.
1.3 Objectives of the Study
To assess the level of female participation in political party decision-making processes in Azare Local Government Area.
To identify the factors that hinder women’s participation in political party decision-making in Azare.
To explore the potential impact of increased female participation on party policies and governance.

What barriers hinder women’s participation in political party decision-making in Azare?
How does increased female participation in political party decision-making affect policy development and political outcomes?
1.5 Research Hypothesis
Female participation in political party decision-making processes in Azare Local Government Area is minimal.
Cultural and institutional barriers significantly limit women’s involvement in political party decision-making.
Increased female participation in decision-making processes leads to more gender-sensitive policies and political outcomes.
1.6 Significance of the Study
This study will contribute to understanding the dynamics of female participation in political party decision-making and its implications for gender equity in politics. It will provide insights that could inform policies to promote women’s involvement in political party leadership and decision-making processes, thereby enhancing inclusive governance and political equality.
